Valencia was ranked the best city in the world for expats in 2020, in a study of more than 66 global destinations.
The Expat City Ranking 2020 was compiled by InterNations, an expat network with more than 4.1 million members in 420 cities worldwide.
After surveying over 15,000 expatriates representing 173 nationalities and living in 181 countries or territories, Valencia came out the clear winner.
InterNations said, "Expats [in Valencia] particularly appreciate the affordable and readily available healthcare, next to plentiful leisure options and great weather."
Expat respondents in Valencia were also extremely satisfied with the cost of living and highly rated the availability and affordability of housing.
In other areas, 67% agreed it is easy to find new friends in Valencia - 20 percentage points above the global average of 47% - and 91% rated the general friendliness of the local population positively. And when it came to local customs, 84% agreed it is easy to get used to Valencian culture too.
In the subcategory rankings, out of the 66 expat cities surveyed, Valencia specifically ranked number 1 for Quality of Urban Living; Leisure and Climate; and Health and Environment.
Valencia's neighbour, the city of Alicante, also performed well in the rankings, coming in at number 2 overall.
