A whopping 25% more passengers travelled through Valencia airport in the first 4 months of this year, compared with last year, reported AENA, the company that owns the city's air terminal, yesterday.
A total of 2,199,586 people came through the airport in the period from January to April 2018 on 22,392 flights, and April was a particularly busy month, with 665,947 passengers in total.
The biggest number of passengers last month came from Italy (105.223) followed by Germany (72,109), the United Kingdom (65,576) and the Netherlands (54,612).
New direct flight links with European cities have helped drive the surge, including the launch of direct routes from London Luton, Hamburg, Naples, Krakow, Hamburg, Marrakesh, Marseille, Santander and Seville.
