Valencia Cathedral

Valencia's cathedral is an impressive building located between two beautiful squares: the Plaza de la Reina and the Plaza de la Virgen.

TIP! It is believed that the cathedral has the original Holy Chalice or Holy Grail. Visit and decide for yourself on our Valencia Holy Grail and History Tour.

Built on the site of an ancient mosque, the cathedral’s mixed architectural style and adornments have given it its unique character over the years.

The cathedral's origins date back to the 13th century: the mosque was consecrated as a cathedral in 1238, and the first stone of the new building was laid in 1262. Information is available inside the cathedral about its history and architectural styles.

The cathedral’s impressive bell tower, known as the Miguelete (or Micalet in Valencian), is a famous landmark in Valencia. If you’re feeling up to it, climb the stairs to the top and take in the magnificent panoramic views of the city all the way to the sea.
