Cruise passengers calling at Valencia can now book a private tuk tuk tour that collects them just outside the terminal and brings them back again.
It's the same two-hour circuit that has been buzzing round the city since last October, with the awkward part of a port day taken care of: getting from the port to the sights and back.
Each tuk tuk carries up to four people and costs €170 for the whole vehicle. Two couples sharing pay €42.50 each.
That transfer matters in Valencia. The cruise terminal sits in the southern part of the port, a fair way from the old town, and working out buses or queuing for taxis eats into a day that's already short. Allow for a short walk, or sometimes a quick shuttle ride, from the ship to the terminal, where your tuk tuk is waiting.
The route packs a lot into two hours. There's a stop at the Central Market, with time to look around its modernist hall, before the tuk tuk heads past the UNESCO-listed Silk Exchange, the Church of Santos Juanes and the medieval gates at Serranos and Quart.
From the old town it runs past the Fine Arts Museum, along Calle de la Paz and by Colón Market, then out to the City of Arts and Sciences. It finishes by the sea, at Malvarrosa beach and the marina.
Guides speak English. Under-18s must be with an adult, and children 135cm or under need a child seat, added for €10. Food, drinks and tips aren't included.
Choose the private cruise option when you book the Tuk Tuk Tour. Prefer a day on the water or a paella pan? The rest of our cruise shore excursions are here.
