Valencia is set to make waves once again as more than fifty classic windsurfers gather at the 3rd Valencia Mar Windsurfer Festival at the city marina, this weekend, 1–2 November.
Organised by the the sailing club at the Valencia Mar part of the marina, along with the Valencian Sailing Federation, the Spanish Royal Sailing Federation and the International Windsurfer Class Association, the event promises a vibrant celebration of the sport’s golden era.
Enjoying a 2020s revival, the Windsurfer Class – the original and most iconic form of competitive windsurfing, dating back to the 1970s – will take centre stage. Competitors race on identical boards, meaning it’s all down to skill, tactics and the whims of the wind.
After taking a break in 2024, the festival returns stronger than ever this year, featuring top names such as reigning world champion Andrea Marchesi from Italy and European champion Valeria Zullo, also known for her stint on Italian MasterChef. Local stars Darío Quesada and Lluís Colomé will proudly represent the Valencian coast.
Get down to Valencia's marina and beach areas this weekend and enjoy the buzz of competition and the flutter of multi-coloured sails, as they skip across the waves.
All the regular marina activities will also be available, including boat trips, stand up paddleboarding and jet ski tours.
