Countdown to Fallas Begins

The countdown to this year's Fallas festival began, today, with the opening of a traditional sculpture exhibition and fireworks at the City of Arts and Science.

The exhibition at the Science Museum displays more than 750 ninots, which are the smaller sculptures - or monuments - that are skilfully, and often comically, handmade as part of the world-famous annual Valencian celebrations.

The expo is open until 15 March 2025 and entrance is €3 for adults and children over 12, or €1.50 for smaller children and over-65s. Book tickets on the museum's website here.

Traditionally Fallas societies spend all year preparing and making the ninots as well as much larger sculptures, which are then erected in the streets around the city for everyone to enjoy.

At the end of the fiestas the larger sculptures are set alight, in huge bonfires with flames often licking the buildings around them under the careful watch of the city's fire brigade.

TIP! Tickets are almost sold out to enjoy a VIP view of some of the best Fallas events with our Banging Fallas Balcony Experience so don't wait, book now!

Visitors to the Science Museum exhibition can vote for their favourite ninot and the most popular will be saved from the flames and put on permanent display in the Fallero Museum instead, where you'll find an incredible collection of sculptures from throughout the event's history.
