Valencia and Alicante airports are having a very busy weekend, with a total of 425 flight arrivals.
Air traffic monitoring website, FlightStats, shows 178 flights expected to land in Valencia on Saturday, 24 July 2021 and Sunday, 25 July 2021, and another 247 expected for the same two days in Alicante airport.
The busy weekend comes after more than a year of low flight numbers, as more Europeans are able to travel following vaccinations. The demand in Alicante is thought to be driven in part by the British visitors, who are now able to visit more easily as the UK eases restrictions on travel to Spain.
The Spanish government has also made it relatively easy for tourists to enter the country, with only a vaccination certificate or recent negative COVID test result required in most cases.
Many tourists still need to book pre-flight COVID tests for their return afterwards too, depending on their home country's requirements, but with plenty of test locations and online booking available in the region, this is very easy to do.
