An impressive 12 Valencian natives and club players are representing the region in Brazil, this month, for the 2014 Fifa World Cup.
Two players in the Spanish squad are Valencian born and bred, and 10 players in 9 other national sides play for Valencian clubs.
Valencia CF tops the list with 5 players from the city's top club at the championships, playing for Switzerland, Portugal and Algeria.
Next on the list is Levante UD, the city's other La Liga club, with a player in the Greek team and another playing for Costa Rica. Also sending two team members is Villarreal CF, from Castellon, north of Valencia city, with both their representatives in the Mexican team.
And not to be forgotten from the south of the Valencian region is Elche CF, with a player in the Colombian cup squad.
